- By heat rising and the larger heated surface area, you can achieve the perfect room temperature a few degrees lower than with standard radiators
- Removing radiators frees wall space for easier room planning
- No cold spots; the entire floor is heated, eliminating cold areas in the room

The floor is gently warmed by running a heating element in the form of a cable just under the flooring. For ease of installation the cable is fixed to a mat which is simply rolled out ensuring that the cable is already in the optimum position. The temperature sensor is connected to the thermostat which ensures the perfect room temperature. By using underfloor heating you can achieve optimum room temperature a few degrees lower than with standard radiators, this is due to the natural process of heat rising rather than cold and warm air is being circulated by radiators. The temperature can also be set lower and yet feel warmer. This is due to the larger heated surface area rather than the small, concentrated heat source of a radiator.
This very much depends on how much you pay for your electricity but typically it costs around 1.6p per square metre per hour.
You can connect up to four mats into a thermostat. The mats must be connected in parallel via a junction box. All electrical connections must be done by a fully qualified electrician.
No. The Floorwarm Under TILE system is designed to work only under tiles. For installation under wood or laminates use Floorwarm Under WOOD & LAMINATE heating system.
You must allow all adhesive to dry fully before turning the heating on. Turning the heat on before tile adhesive has dried can cause cracks in the adhesive. Additionally, if you are installing the heating mats onto a concrete substrate then you must ensure that this is also fully dry before operating your heating system. Some manufacturers recommend a drying time of up to 28 days.
No. The Floorwarm Under WOOD heating system is designed to work only under wood or laminate. For installation under tiles use Floorwarm Under TILE heating system.
Floorwarm has been designed to heat the floor and subsequently the air above it as the heat rises. In smaller rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms which have good levels of insulation then Floorwarm can be used as a sole heat source.
Floorwarm Under TILE heating mats are designed to be used in bathrooms and wetrooms. However, Floorwarm Under WOOD & LAMINATE mats should not be used in such areas.
You need to carefully plan out the layout of your room. You then need to calculate the size of your room in square metres. Always buy a smaller mat than you need as the mat cannot be shortened.
Once you have carefully planned out the layout of your mat, you can cut the mat to any layout required. You must never cut the heating cables. For the Under TILE system carefully cut the mesh mat behind the heating cable. For the Under WOOD & LAMINATE system you cut the foil mat. Once you have cut the mat you must apply Floorwarm Foil Joint Tape to connect the two sections of foil mat. This both protects the cable and maintains the earth connection.
You should always us a flexible powder floor tile adhesive when installing Floorwarm Under TILE heating. Check with the manufacturer that it is suitable for use with under floor heating.
Select from one of our range of thermostats to set the heating mat to the required temperature.
Typical heat up time is around 15 to 30 minutes. This can vary depending on the ambient temperature. The use of Floorwarm Insulation Board can reduce heat up time by up to 50%. This means your room heats faster and stays warm longer.
Simply put, using insulation board will significantly reduce your running costs. Heat up time is reduced by up to 50%. Because the system reaches the required temperature sooner it uses less electricity. Also, the heat is reflected upwards by the insulation board meaning that heat isn't being lost in the sub-floor again reducing the electricity used.

Yes, Floorwarm Under TILE has a Lifetime guarantee. Floorwarm Under WOOD & LAMINATE is guaranteed for 15 years. A registration card in the manual must be completed and returned to Vitrex. The manual also details the full terms and conditions. These can also be found in this website.
If you place solid objects directly onto the floor, thermal blocking occurs. To work properly, under floor heating needs air to pass over it. Only place furniture or objects on the heated floor which are raised off the floor with feet or legs. If solid objects are placed onto the floor, thermal blocking can occur, which means the heated air is prevented from rising. This can cause the heating system to overheat and can cause problems with your installation.
Thermal blocking is a 'hot spot' caused by placing solid items directly on the heated floor which prevent the heat from naturally rising. This can cause damage to the system and flooring. Items such as rubber backed rugs, solid furniture, bath mats and pet beds could potentially cause 'thermal blocking'.
Yes. Incorporating the heat source in the floor removes the need for radiators, freeing wall space for easier room planning. Removing radiators avoids the air circulation which can often leave unsightly dark dust marks above radiators.
